Three meat shops have been torched by unknown persons in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district.

Police have registered a case in the incident which took place on Tuesday night.

The attack on the meat shops comes in the wake of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s crackdown on slaughterhouses.

Yogi Adityanath has directed the UP police to prepare an action plan for closure of slaughterhouses in the state, according to PTI.

The new chief minister has also ordered a blanket ban on smuggling of cows.

Raids are being conducted across the state to identify illegal slaughterhouses and seal them. On Tuesday, at least 15 illegal slaughter houses were sealed in Ghaziabad.

Four illegal slaughterhouses were sealed in Kanpur on Tuesday night.

In Meerut, police are raiding slaughterhouses across the district to check if they are being run illegally.

Similarly in Azamgarh, around half a dozen illegal slaughterhouses have been sealed.

The BJP in its election manifesto for Uttar Pradesh had promised strict action against illegal slaughter houses.
