Navi Mumbai: Following conflicting media reports about some 20 persons falling ill after consuming food from a stall set up outside a hotel in Hiranandani complex in sector 7, the Kharghar police have tracked down four food poisoning patients so far. An FIR has been filed against the absconding vendor on Saturday.
The owner was using the hotel’s marginal space to set up stall and sell food cooked by his own staff. Four persons, who fell ill on Sunday night after eating food from the stall, were admitted to a private hospital on Monday.
Senior inspector Dilip Kale said “After a section of media reported 20 persons had suffered from food poisoning and were admitted in two local hospitals, we checked but did not find them there.”
Later, they located the four patients who were admitted to Shree Hospital. “The doctors confirmed that two minors and two women were admitted on Monday. Three of them have been discharged and the fourth was to be discharged on Saturday evening,” said Kale.
Shekhar Bhatle, a relative of the patient, said, “After eating at the stall on Sunday night, my brother-in-law Sachin Shitap, and other family members, Rupali (29), Raysha (3), Shweta Masurkar (31) and Marvi (2) fell ill on Monday night. Sachin was admitted to Sanjeevani hospital and the rest were admitted to Shree.”
